advocacy efforts

1.

We advocate for implementation of trauma-informed practices within public entities that allow for equal access to justice and social services. We believe utilizing trauma-informed practices is a step in the right direction toward attainable and just accommodations for individuals with unaddressed trauma and other mental health disabilities, which are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

2.

We seek to build a databased of ACES scores from incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. We are doing this to provide evidence that trauma-informed practices and trauma interventions are desperately needed prior to release from incarceration. If you are incarcerated of formerly incarcerated, please participate in the test provided within the ACES Test section.

3.

We seek to provide technical assistance to Sates that want to become “designated trauma informed.” As a result, many States and local governments around the country are becoming “designated trauma-informed.” States agencies become required to recognize trauma responses and implement trauma-informed practices, policies, and procedures through executive action.

Please contact NTAI if you are willing or able to partner with us, or would like to volunteer to assist us with these efforts.
